We’re trying to teach you a technique here and how to use it. That’s what painting is all about. It should make you feel good when you paint. We’ll make some happy little bushes here.
We must be quiet, soft and gentle. So often we avoid running water, and running water is a lot of fun. But they’re very easily killed. Clouds are delicate. Just think about these things in your mind – then bring them into your world. I can’t think of anything more rewarding than being able to express yourself to others through painting. Let’s put some happy little clouds in our world.
This is truly an almighty mountain. Remember how free clouds are. They just lay around in the sky all day long. You got your heavy coat out yet? It’s getting colder. Those great big fluffy clouds.
You can work and carry-on and put lots of little happy things in here. This piece of canvas is your world. In painting, you have unlimited power. You have the ability to move mountains. You can bend rivers. But when I get home, the only thing I have power over is the garbage. Imagination is the key to painting.
Get tough with it, get strong. Use what you see, don’t plan it. Let’s have a happy little tree in here. Be brave. Let your imagination be your guide.
Even trees need a friend. We all need friends. If these lines aren’t straight, your water’s going to run right out of your painting and get your floor wet. It just happens – whether or not you worried about it or tried to plan it. There’s not a thing in the world wrong with washing your brush.
You’re the greatest thing that has ever been or ever will be. You’re special. You’re so very special. Isn’t it great to do something you can’t fail at? You don’t have to be crazy to do this but it does help. These things happen automatically. All you have to do is just let them happen. Just pretend you are a whisper floating across a mountain.
