”Add to cart.” – 1.8 billion homedepot.com customers in 2021*

The online marketplace is as competitive as it gets. Our client needed a dedicated team to deliver an extensive list of enhancements for their e-commerce product pages that would increase their search rankings and tell their innovation and brand stories. We had a blast digging in to complete thousands of assets that met Home Depot and client requirements, including layout for variant images, banners and multi-media rich content. When our client was recognized by The Home Depot for their digital marketing efforts, we were elated and honored to have made some contributions.

Hero & Hover Product Images

These thumbnails are the first view of your products on the Home Depot category and search results page. Hero images display photography of the main components of the sku, according to Home Depot standards. Hover images appear when the viewer’s cursor hovers on the hero image and can contain any content you would like to have appear. In this case, our client shows a side photo angle and the description of each component with branded graphics. Other options for the hover image include: a brand message, promotional offering, environmental photo or top selling points. Hero and Hover images improve the e-commerce user experience, communicate the product offering in search results, and provide a consistent brand experience across your product line.

ALT Product Images

Alternative Images serve multiple purposes in an e-commerce site. They retain viewer engagement on your product as they click through to view your multiple photography and graphic assets. Alt images are an excellent way to deliver your priority features and benefits and tell your product story. Beyond the visual appeal, alt text tags associated with these images are key to accessibility of your product information for the visually impaired and also contribute to search engine optimization (SEO).

Rich Content

E-commerce clients love rich media content. Rich content is visually appealing, interesting, educational and provides the customer with important information to influence the buying decision. Home Depot vendors should convey product information, capabilities, pertinent details about warranty and compatibility, and display a strong brand identity. The Home Depot website encourages varied media types, including images, illustrations and gifs. Always important to digital and e-commerce marketing, rich content has associated opportunity for keyword rich copywriting to improve search engine optimization (SEO). Rich content is an excellent tool for exhibiting the reasons to prefer your products and brands over the competition.

Inline Images

Inline images are used on a webpage to present the visitor an option to view content on a different page in an aesthetically appealing way. They function similarly to display ads, with colorful graphics and imagery opportunity and a hyperlink, and they appear within the content of the page instead of the header, footer or sides. Inline images are a great way to increase awareness of a new product launch, share compatible products and advertise holiday promotions and other limited time offers.
